Job Title: Support Worker in schools
Location: Exeter, Devon
Job Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:30)

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our team in the Exeter area of Devon. As a Support Worker in local schools, you will play a crucial role in assisting students with additional needs to access the curriculum, participate in school activities, and promote their independence and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support student learning activities.
2. Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
3. Encourage the inclusion of all students within the classroom and wider school environment.
4. Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
5. Monitor and report on the progress of students.
6. Prepare learning materials and resources as directed by the teacher.
7. Assist in creating a safe and engaging learning environment for all students.
8. Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents where necessary.
9. Accompany students on school trips and ensure their safety and well-being.
10. Attend training sessions and professional development workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
11. Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.
12. Promote positive behavior and support the development of social skills.
13. Carry out any other duties within the scope of the role as directed by the school management.
Education & Qualifications:
1. NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is desirable.
2. Previous experience working with children, or vulnerable adults particularly those with SEND, is preferred.
3. A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.

3. An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.
5. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.

7. Flexibility and adaptability to work with a variety of needs and situations.
