We are advertising this Pest Control Technician role on behalf of our client ‘City Facilities Management’. City FM was established in 1985 and has grown to become one of the world’s largest privately held, integrated FM companies.
Job Purpose:
The Pest Control Technician is to provide complete pest control services (including proofing) to our client to control all pest species covered under our contract and, by thorough inspection, identify any environmental conditions conducive to pest activity whether covered by the contract or not.
This requires visiting sites at agreed intervals governed by the specification service delivery and carrying out a detailed inspection in a safe and professional manner with due regard to Health and Safety and Hygiene regulations. This would involve providing an effective service to our clients and effectively communicating observations verbally as well as in writing via reports.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Attend training courses as necessary to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments.
2. Carry out onsite practical training with CITY colleagues.
3. Take ownership of all pest-related issues, i.e., infestations/cleaning/proofing, to resolve ongoing problems.
4. Respond promptly to genuine emergency call outs from the Helpdesk.
5. Work in a manner to support the achievement of company KPI delivery.
6. Formulate detailed reports on stores, escalating issues to all relevant stakeholders.
7. Identify infestation non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the Area Manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.
8. Prioritise detailed recommendations to stores and achieve agreed timescales and response times to proactively defend against pest activity.
9. Where pest proofing works are non-repairable, make recommendations to the National Pest Control Operations Manager and Field Support Supervisor (FSSs).
10. Carry out proofing works and installations within the individual’s technical competence in accordance with current specifications.
11. Advise and document to the SM of any pest activity and how this may be detrimental to the smooth running of the store.
12. Following inspections, provide a written report detailing pest activity detected and any environmental conditions that may adversely affect the store which may be submitted to Trading Law, Operational Managers, SMs, etc.
13. Maintain and keep vehicle and equipment supplied in good working condition; order preparations, spares to laid-down procedures.
14. Comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the company.
15. When required, support other engineering disciplines to provide flexibility to service.
16. Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy.
17. Use pesticides in a safe and responsible manner as specified under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.
18. Work in a manner to support the lowest cost to operating ethos.
19. Ensure all systems are working to optimum energy efficiency.
20. Represent the company in a professional manner and develop a good working relationship with City and customer colleagues.
21. Work with company and customer colleagues to ensure that laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times.
Skills / Background / Qualifications:
1. At least 12 months experience as a pest control technician.
2. Royal Society of Health Cert in Pest Control or British Pest Control Association Diploma’s Part 1 and 2 is required.
3. Bird proofing work is desirable.
4. Fumigation services are desirable.
5. General building/fabrication skills are desirable.
6. Experience in pest control environment.
7. Experience in retail, leisure or FM sector is desirable.
8. Good PC literacy.
9. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
10. Full driving licence.
11. Helpful/professional manner.
12. Self-motivated.
13. A hands-on, can-do and flexible approach to work is an essential requirement.
14. Positive in approach, able to work in a dynamic business environment, committed to the delivery of outstanding customer service.
