Role Overview
We are seeking X6 Skilled Operators to join the Sheet Details department. This role involves working with sheet metals, including bending, shaping, and forming processes, to produce high-quality aerospace components.
The ideal candidate will have:
A relevant NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering.
Proven experience working with sheet metallics and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
General Duties:
Health & Safety: Promote a safe work environment, adhering to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations. Report any incidents or hazards promptly.
Time Management: Accurately record attendance and job costings through clocking and booking systems.
Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised workstation, adhering to a clear desk policy and ensuring tools are properly stored.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all work meets quality standards and specifications, minimising wastage through careful handling of materials.
Cost Efficiency: Support cost-saving initiatives by minimising unnecessary expenses.
Knowledge & Skills Development: Continuously update skills and training relevant to the role, including maintaining Approved Operator (AO) stamps.
Teamwork: Actively participate in team meetings, share knowledge, and mentor trainees when needed.
Role-Specific Responsibilities:
Hold and maintain Approved Operator (AO) stamps for required tasks, ensuring work complies with drawings and specifications.
Interpret engineering data, technical drawings, repair schemes, and manufacturing procedures.
Perform forming techniques (hand/machine-aided) to create aerospace components as per customer requirements.
Safely operate machinery such as stretch forming machines, rolling machines, and other sheet metal tools.
Accurately complete route cards for traceability and compliance with EHS and COSHH procedures.
Fabricate metal components from start to finish, using techniques such as bending, cutting, shrinking, and stretching.
Work collaboratively on complex tasks requiring two operators and independently on simpler projects.Note: This role involves physical activity. Assistance will be provided where necessary.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Manual dexterity and experience in sheet metalwork processes.
Understanding of engineering drawings and measurement systems (imperial/metric).
Basic IT, numeracy, and literacy skills.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Positive attitude and problem-solving mindset.
Preferred: Experience with aluminium and stainless steel fabrication processes, including CNC press forming and other advanced techniques.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK under ITAR restrictions, and be eligible for baseline clearance
