Salary: £121,800 - £182,600 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
SSEN Transmission's Pathway to 2030 blueprint will see us grow to become the UK’s second largest Transmission Owner with 24GW of connected renewable generation and an operational asset value of £20bn.
As part of this exciting growth, we are seeking a Director of Transmission Network Control to join our senior team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the North of Scotland Transmission system.
In this role you'll lead the team who manage the transmission network from our control centre in Perth, supporting significant network expansion plans, ensuring the reliability and availability of the system to keep power flowing across the country and setting the strategy, policy and standards for world class network operations including network access, outages and infrastructure commissioning.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
• Strategic leadership in 24/7 control room operations covering real time monitoring, outage planning, fault management, safety coordination of the transmission network and agreement of network configuration with the National Energy System Operator (NESO)
• Leading the people and processes for operation of the real time Transmission network to maintain a secure and reliable system in line with our Transmission licence
• Ensuring design processes and procedures for operational planning and commissioning are in place to facilitate safe, efficient and timely connection and completion of transmission projects
• Developing exceptional team capability to identify, manage, resolve and report on power system events, such as Electricity Restoration and storms, that affect SSEN Transmission network and affected parties
• Developing and implementing world leading system control strategies in Transmission operations through interactions with external industry parties both within GB and internationally
• Representing SSEN Transmission internally and externally where operational advice or information is required. This will range from everyday KPIs to Government briefings.
To succeed in this role you must:
• Be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or operating at a similar professional level with extensive industry experience, ideally holding Chartered status
• Be a recognised professional leader with significant experience in Transmission system operation and management of the Transmission Owner / System Operator interface
• Have a proven track record of leading, coaching and motivating teams
• Possess excellent interpersonal and engagement skills, with the proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
• Be resilient, tenacious and committed to delivering positive results with proven ability to make effective decisions under pressure
