Job Type: Modelling and Data Analytics Internship
Function: Technology/R&D/Design/Sustaining
Location: UK, Farnborough
Description:
This internship offers exciting opportunities working within the Wireline sector of Baker Hughes. The UK site designs and manufactures a diverse range of electromechanical products that operate in deep oil & gas wells, under extreme environments.
The applicant will be a core member of a small team working closely with other scientists, electronic, mechanical and software engineers to develop the next generation of downhole tools.
More specifically, the role will be focused on modelling, simulating and analysing data from novel electromagnetic sensors that are used to inspect the integrity of metal tubulars, used within an oil and gas well. The results will be used to optimise sensor design, drive the direction of experimentation, and further our understanding on the sensor response in varying conditions. While providing valuable industrial experience sought by recruiters for future permanent roles within industry.
You will join a team of interns working in a wide variety of roles at the Farnborough location. This will present opportunities to engage in cross-functional projects and ensure that there are like-minded individuals to share your experience with, both in an out of the office.
Experience you will Gain:
The internship will provide valuable experience in the following areas:
1. Development of electromagnetic models in COMSOL Multiphysics
2. Data analytics
3. Calibrating theoretical models to experimental results
4. Digital signal processing
5. Working alongside leading experts in the field
6. Develop MATLAB/Python processing algorithms
7. Opportunities work as part of a team and independently
Typical Projects:
