Are you passionate about renewable energy and empowering communities to transition to a sustainable future? The Globe Group CIC is seeking a proactive and skilled Energy Officer to work closely with the Managing Director on overseeing our new Community Energy Hub and delivering related energy projects. This exciting role will involve coordinating impactful initiatives through our soon-to-launch energy hub, supporting the development of new services and energy training, and collaborating with local stakeholders to advance our non-profit mission.
About the Role
As an Energy Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Managing Director in the successful delivery of our energy initiatives and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Community Energy Hub.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Community Energy Hub:
* Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the hub, ensuring it meets the needs of local communities and stakeholders.
* Plan and coordinate (and deliver) training sessions on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainability topics for individuals, groups, and organisations.
* Deliver information, advice, and guidance (IAG) services, providing expert support to help people and organisations embrace sustainable energy practices.
* Collaborate with the Managing Director to evaluate and enhance the hub’s services to meet community needs and support organisational objectives.
Coordinating Community Energy Projects:
* Support the implementation of energy-focused initiatives in collaboration with community groups, local organisations, and other stakeholders.
* Assist in delivering project activities, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
* Provide regular updates on project progress and outcomes, contributing to wider organisational goals.
* Act as a point of contact for energy-related enquiries, sharing expertise and providing practical advice.
* Identify and support opportunities for new community energy projects to expand our impact.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you will need:
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Comprehensive knowledge of renewable energy, energy efficiency, or community energy projects.
* Must have familiarity with the Staffordshire and/or Stoke region and be aware of its key anchor institutions i.e. Local Authorities, Housing Associations etc.
* Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
* A passion for sustainability and empowering communities to achieve energy independence.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience delivering training or facilitating workshops.
* Previous experience providing information, advice, or guidance services.
* An understanding of community development and its role in promoting sustainable energy transitions.
* Knowledge of or experience in developing new retrofit/renewables/community energy initiatives within a non-profit or social enterprise setting.
