Job summary The post holder, under the leadership of the Matron has a continuing responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of an elective Surgical ward within an Accredited Surgical Hub. He/she will ensure the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based and cost-effective service for patients and their families. Combining clinical expertise with innovative, dynamic nursing leadership the post holder will manage a designated team of ward staff in their professional and practice development, to ensure that safe and appropriate care is provided. Main duties of the job Effectively lead, manage and develop a designated team of nurses. Perform appraisal, ensure team members have appropriate personal development plans with regular reviews, manage sickness and contractual changes of own team members. Lead in the delivery of patient and family care, and act as an expert clinical adviser to the Nursing and medical team & other hospital departments and services. Lead in the effective planning, delivery, evaluation and monitoring of standards of care carried out, with due regard to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and their families.
