Salary up to £68,000 DOE, plus a £5000 Relocation Allowance
Our client's Small Animal hospital is looking for an experienced individual to join their team of 8 vets. They are looking for a vet with a surgical bias to complement the team. The ideal colleague will have a strong background in surgery and a desire to take on the more challenging surgical procedures which come from the high and varied surgical caseload.
There is no sole charge as there are a minimum of 3 vets working each day, with at least 2 vets operating (2 separate theatres, plus separate dental and imaging suites). They have a large, experienced team who support each other sharing case knowledge and advice daily. They have 2 consult-only vets, so we would ideally be looking for a vet who also enjoys surgery. Flexible appointment length based on case requirements.
CPD – they believe in developing your individual interests. They have certificate-holders in ophthalmology and diagnostic imaging, both of which were fully funded by the practice. They will support certificates or CPD schedules and work with you to achieve your goals.
The client is happy to discuss Full-time, part-time, or flexible working hours. There is no OOH/bank holidays – they are a VetsNow host practice, so are lucky to be able to keep the inpatients on site, with dedicated care. This enables further skills sharing between the team.
They are passionate about work-life balance and run monthly wellbeing activities within the practice and also a monthly social activity outside of work. These have included activities such as a wellbeing breathwork session and a team doing the muddy dog challenge. Full-time work is normally split over 4 days with a rotating weekday off to create regular 4-day weekends. Shift patterns cover varying portions of our opening hours: 8-7pm. Plus Saturdays 8:30-1pm.
They are an RCVS accredited small animal hospital and hold ISFM gold standard cat friendly status as well as the silver rabbit friendly award. The team are also currently working towards the dog friendly award. They recently refurbished a number of areas within the practice, including the cat-only dedicated side of the building.
They have:
* Purpose-built building - separate dog and cat waiting rooms, kennels, prep areas and separate theatres
* On-site CT Scanner
* Video endoscopy
* Digital x-ray
* Dedicated Dental suite with new dental x-ray machine
* Colour flow doppler ultrasound
* Separate exotics ward
* Oxygen kennels
* Slit lamp bio-microscope, Tonometry and cryotherapy
* Dedicated 'farewell' rooms
* Large on-site carpark for staff and clients
* Lunch area and separate Staff mindfulness room – with a do-not-disturb policy
They value high clinical standards within first opinion care and have a large client base of established loyal clients. Having the CT scanner enables us to keep more complex cases in-house and work cases up to a high standard. They prioritise high standards of care for both patients and staff. 1/3 of the team have been with them for over 14 years but are always keen to take on new ideas.
The Team:
* 8 Veterinary Surgeons – 2 certificate holders, experienced vets and newer graduates with a variety of interests and skills. Visiting orthopaedic and soft tissue specialist weekly.
* Team of 13 Veterinary nurses – over 200 years of experience.
They are a nurse training practice and have dedicated teams – ANA & Auxiliary team, experienced receptionists and a dedicated insurance team, finance administrator and Practice Manager.
