The Process Technician is to assist Process Engineering and die cast operations with daily activities, as well as lead implementation of continuous improvement activities.
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY
Responsible to assist Process Engineering with supporting all aspects of monitoring, maintaining, and improving the daily die cast processes, while working cross-functionally with any other related departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
1. Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
2. Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
3. Document, verify, and maintain critical die cast process parameters.
4. Control revision level of process parameters and equipment programs. Responsible to back-up equipment programs.
5. Document all die cast process changes and maintain change history.
6. Analyze scrap and determine reason or root cause of problem.
7. Perform cycle time analysis, determine bottleneck operation, and implement countermeasures to improve Net Casting Rate.
8. Assist in PPAP, DOE, and first part production / part verification.
9. Evaluate casting conditions for out of specification conditions.
10. Support die sets with any process related setup and verifications.
11. Understand casting operation requirements to assist in troubleshooting activities.
12. Promote good housekeeping (5S).
13. Perform other duties as required.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE/WORK EXPERIENCE
OTHER KNOWLEDGE: Strong Computer and Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Lean Manufacturing background & Six Sigma preferred, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Problem Solving & DOE.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position mandates you to wear Personal Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Hard Hats, & that all jewelry will be removed while on production/ manufacturing floor. Daily, for short periods of time you could be working around extreme high temperatures (above 900 ° F/ 270C).
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED: Some general tools and pieces of equipment include the die cast machine, robots, spray head cabinet, computer, copier / printer, thermal camera, thermocouple thermometers, and general hand tools (etc).
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required.
TECHNICAL TRAINING: Product and Process Overview, NADCA, Fanuc Robots, Thermal Imaging (Viper, FLIR), Simple Curve Viewer, IDRA.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Manufacturing, Die Casting Preferred. Minimum of 1 year.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Knowledge of the automotive manufacturing industry.
