About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative researcher with expertise in the computational analysis of cancer genomes to join Mike Stratton's team as a Staff Scientist in the CASM Programme.
You will be responsible for:
You will play a lead role in a global study investigating the causes of early-onset colorectal cancer. This computational-based project will involve analysis of colorectal cancer genomes and you will play a key role in data analysis, interpretation and manuscript preparation. You will work closely with members of our team as well as our network of international partners while contributing to the overall research strategy of Mike Stratton's team.
You will join a supportive, inclusive, and friendly team consisting of PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, staff scientists, research assistants and project management support.
Essential skills:
* PhD in Biological Sciences
* Experience in a scientific research role
* Experience in cancer genetics and genomics
* Experience in analysing next generation sequencing data

* Excellent communication skills, able to communicate ideas and results effectively to a wide range of audiences

Desirable Skills:
* Experience in data management and quality control of biological datasets
* Proficiency in using the command line
* Proficiency in Python and/or R for analysing biological data
* Publication record and experience in writing scientific manuscripts
Salary per annum: £44,890 to £53,331 dependent on skills and experience
