Temp Day Matron Job
I am working with a leading co-educational independent day and boarding school in Oxford for students aged 11 – 18. They believe in outstanding teaching and laughter and celebrate the individual. They foster a culture that promotes collaboration and originality.
The school comprises 3 sections: Senior School, International and the Sixth Form, giving a school of approximately 700 students (of which 300 board) and they are seeking to appoint a Temporary Day Matron to play an important role in the running of their school boarding houses. The post is full time, term-time only, to start asap.
The Role:
Provide cover in the boarding houses during the day, to help provide pastoral and general welfare support for students, and to help with various aspects of the running of the Houses.
* As a member of the boarding house staff team, to provide cover in the boarding houses as per a duty rota;
* When on duty, to be vigilant and alert to what is happening in different parts of the house.
* To deal with medical issues and liaise with school nurse as necessary;
* To be aware of student health issues;
* To help manage the weekly bed-changing and laundry process;
* To ensure the laundry cupboard is kept in order, and put away clean bed linen after deliveries;
* Liaise with cleaners regarding sick students, ad hoc jobs & cleaning supplies, etc.;
* Report maintenance issues and liaise with the Maintenance team and contractors as required;
* To be available for students and to provide a listening ear, and pastoral and general welfare support as appropriate;
* To report any issues or concerns promptly and fully to the Head of House and the Head of Boarding;
* To maintain up to date records in the Boarding House, including kitchen fridge temperature records and student medical records;
* To undertake other administrative duties as and when required.

* Very good people and communication skills at all levels including students, colleagues and parents;
* The ability to work and get on well with young people;
* The ability to use PC based tools such as Word.
*To be considered for this position you must hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one ASAP.*
Hours: 8am until 4pm – Monday to Friday
Salary: £15 GPH
