The Packing Maintenance Lead delivers results by optimizing equipment reliability in the area through the creation, improvement and deployment of the preventative maintenance plan, as well as analysis of breakdowns and elimination of breakdowns root causes. The role drives the implementation of reliability centered maintenance and the alignment of the maintenance plan with the Plant strategy without compromising delivery of results and standards. The Maintenance Lead supports the development of the culture of equipment ownership in the team with high action orientation and commitment for results which delivers manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Health and Environment:
1. Drives a Safety Health and Environment culture, with responsibility for legislative compliance.
2. Ensures that all maintenance required to ensure the Safety, Health and Environment aspects of equipment are known and included in the preventative maintenance system (PSSR/LOLER/PUWER/LEV).
3. Ensures that all safety instructions and maintenance work is conducted using the required Safety systems such as Lock Out Tag Out Test Out – LOTOTO and permit to work – PTW Checks if work permit is adequate and execution is according to plan; takes care of technician’s / contractor’s and third-party employees’ safety.
4. Immediately corrects any substandard condition or unsafe behaviour.
5. Leads and or participates in incident/accident investigations and Risk Assessments.
KPI’s:
1. Delivery of key maintenance KPIs including MTBF and MTTR.
Quality:
1. Drives a Quality culture and role models behaviors. Ensure all maintenance interventions guarantee Quality requirements, and legislative standards are met.
Leadership:
1. Drives manufacturing excellence within the shift team through engaged leadership and coaching.
2. Develops and coaches the associates in the team, closing technical competency gaps through the development and training of technical standards.
Delivery & Cost:
1. Takes full responsibility of technical related loss elimination and performance targets.
2. Identifies and executes improvement actions generated from data analysis related to equipment performance.
3. Owns and leads breakdown elimination system, maintenance planning and scheduling system.
4. Responsible for implementing the preventative maintenance plan on time in full ensuring the optimal functioning of equipment.
5. Owns, manages and optimizes Maintenance and Repair costs (budgets).
6. Optimizes the cost for spare parts balancing availability, cost and quality.
7. Implements company continuous improvement system with a specific focus on autonomous and preventive maintenance, taking ownership for key tools utilitising a hands-on approach through using and owning the relevant tools.
8. Develop obsolescence plan and reduces risk due to obsolescence.
9. Utilises and drives use of CMMS (SAP) to ensure data capture, asset history and targeted improvement plans.
Qualifications
Qualifications and skills
1. University Degree (Bachelor) or equivalent in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering.
2. At least 4 years of professional experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment (maintenance/engineering preferred).
3. Good working knowledge of CMMS systems, preferably SAP PM.
4. Experience leading a team.
5. Knowledge and experience of using predictive maintenance techniques across a complex plant.
6. Ability to analyse reliability data and define actions.
7. Able to demonstrate strong leadership capabilities in challenging situations.
8. Excellent understanding and experience in Root Cause/ Breakdown Analysis Tool.
9. Good knowledge of lean manufacturing tools.
