Head of Legal & Compliance
Location: London / Hybrid flexibility
Salary: £150,000-160,000 + bonus + equity + benefits
The Company
A high-growth, successful and mission driven SaaS business, using AI and data analytics to help medical advances, is seeking an experienced in-house lawyer to lead its legal function.
The opportunity
Reporting to the CFO, you will take over an existing Legal and Compliance function and small team. The aim is to support the company’s ambitious but achievable global growth plans following private equity backing. You will be responsible for overseeing the company’s legal affairs, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategically oversee legal and compliance globally across the organisation, building optimal team structures and utilising technology.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external counsel to help the company navigate the challenges of a fast-paced and evolving industry.
* Draft and review a range of agreements such as Software-as-a-Service MSAs, order forms, professional services agreements, NDAs, vendor agreements, information security etc.
* Be hands on in managing the contracting part of a complex sales cycle, project managing the sales, product, engineering, finance, IT and Leadership teams internally.
* Maintain a robust compliance program that ensures adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
* Support the Leadership and HR teams on employment related matters as and when they arise across multiple jurisdictions.
* Advise the Leadership team on all potential or actual legal disputes should they arise.
* Oversee the management of corporate matters including shareholder transactions, constitutional documents, M&A and due diligence.
About You:
* Ideally you will be a UK qualified lawyer with 8–15 years PQE and a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
* You must have worked in a high growth, PE/VC backed B2B technology business.
* Ideally you will have worked in a SaaS based business that interacts with the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry but this is not a pre-requisite.
* You will need broad expertise across commercial, corporate, technology and compliance.
* A proactive, strategic leader with strong commercial acumen and a hands-on approach will suit this position
* You will need to be a highly commercial problem solver with strong communication skills.
This role requires a legal professional who can provide counsel to senior leadership, protect the organization from legal and compliance risks, and build and maintain a world-class legal department capable of supporting a high-growth, global SaaS business in the health/pharma space.
