Dauntsey’s School is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Clerk to the Governors to support its governance and compliance operations. This position involves providing professional administrative support to the Governing Body, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and facilitating effective communication between Governors and School leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
* Governance and Compliance: Ensure that the Governing Body operates in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Support for Meetings and Events: Prepare necessary documentation for Governing Body meetings, ensuring that mandated requirements are met.
* Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all correspondence related to the Governing Body.
* Identification of Committees, Working Groups and Governor Panels: Ensure that appropriate Terms of Reference exist for Committees and Working Groups.
* Records Management: Maintain the Governor portal on SharePoint and ensure that all Governing Body documents are kept up to date.
* Induction, Training and Development: Support the Chair and Vice Chair with the process for the retirement of existing Governors and the recruitment of new.
This role would suit an experienced individual with first-class administrative, organisational and inter-personal skills, gravitas and credibility to impact at Board level in a calm, professional manner. Essential skills and attributes include:
Education: Educated to a minimum of A Level or equivalent.
Experience: Proven experience in a Clerk, Company Secretary or senior administrative role. An understanding of charity law, governance and legal frameworks, ideally in an Independent School setting would be advantageous.
Skills: Outstanding administrative skills as well as a high level of computer literacy, specifically in standard Microsoft Office and virtual communication (Teams, Zoom) tools.

Working Pattern:
* Flexible working pattern but must attend all meetings required of this role in person.
* Expected two days per week (7.5 hours per day), for 33 weeks per year, anchored around the School term. (For clarity, depending on the timing of Governors meetings at the start of terms, occasional working during School holidays may be required).
* Occasional essential business travel time (e.g. to London meetings) is classed as working time (for clarity, travel to and from School is not classed as working time).
* All employees are required to complete compulsory safeguarding and child protection training as part of their contractual commitment.

Salary: £11,000 to £13,300 depending on experience (38.6 weeks per year, inclusive of 5.6 weeks paid holiday).
