Scope;
Akkodis is launching a new technical delivery team to drive a UK national programme in collaboration with key partners, designed to transform and future-proof the central government’s workforce. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, strategic partnerships, and a comprehensive SaaS-based platform, this programme will create an advanced, candidate-centric experience tailored to meet tomorrow’s public sector skill demands.

Role:
The Test Team Lead will provide QA leadership and ensure robust testing structures are in place across delivery teams. The role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in testing, team leadership, and automation, with a focus on best practices, continuous improvement, and the efficient reuse of testing frameworks and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving high-quality automation test solutions while maintaining a culture of quality within the organisation.
Responsibilities:
* Promote a quality-focused culture in the development team and the wider business.
* Develop and train team members in innovative processes, technology, and mindset.
* Set and maintain testing standards across all projects.
* Provide technical leadership and strategic direction to the test team.
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior testers, fostering skills development across the team.
* Empower, manage, and evaluate team member performance.
* Support the recruitment process for new test team members.
* Collaborate closely with team members and stakeholders.
* Write, maintain, and improve technical documentation to support project knowledge sharing and onboarding new team members.
* Hands-on manual testing experience, including system, integration, and regression testing.
* Translate functional requirements and specifications into detailed test cases.
* Develop and document test strategies and approaches.
* Execute test cases and analyse results.
* Work within Agile testing environments and ensure quality delivery.
* Ensure efficient test automation solutions are developed and implemented.
* Manage multiple projects and workstreams concurrently
Required Experience
* Proven Test Lead experience.
* Demonstrable experience of establishing robust enterprise-wide test and QA governance frameworks.
* Expert knowledge of industry testing techniques, methodology, and best practices.
* Knowledge of Agile planning and project management tools and techniques.
* Experience and knowledge of test artefacts, well-formed test scripts, test execution, test metrics, and test review processes.
* Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS and/or Azure (AWS preferred).
* Proven leadership experience in managing test teams.
* Strong understanding of software management principles.
* Experience working in cross-functional teams.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Required Skills:
* AWS Professional Certification (Cloud Practitioner Foundational, Developer Associate, or DevOps Engineer Professional).
* Professional qualification in Azure Cloud (Azure Fundamentals, Azure Developer Associate, or Solutions Architect Expert).
Required Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
* A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
* Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
