Our client, a private equity backed energy company, is looking to add a Financial Accountant to their new Finance team, reporting directly to the CFO.
As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day finance processes and the data integrity of the finance systems. You will play a key part in driving improvement within the internal controls/processes, while remaining compliant and also producing the monthly and annual accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform monthly reconciliations of the balance sheet.
2. Complete monthly and annual VAT reconciliations and submissions to HMRC within the required timeframes.
3. Manage Fixed Assets, Accruals, and Prepayments.
4. Compile and submit all necessary government statistics reporting (ONS).
5. Assist with the production of the year-end audit pack, including reconciliation work and variance investigations.
6. Produce monthly management accounts within the required timeframes.
7. Prepare and update the weekly cash forecast, utilizing data from creditors, budget/forecast, and prior week movements.
8. Assist with management accounts preparation and reforecasting as required.
9. Contribute to larger finance projects, such as the implementation of new finance systems and automation of AP/AR/bank transactions.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
1. Fully qualified.
2. Strong Excel skills.
3. Understanding of Sage.
4. Ability to analyze complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
6. Strong budgeting and forecasting experience.
7. A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
