About the Role Pendarren Outdoor Education Centre aims to support the physical, emotional and intellectual development of children and young people, through challenge, adventure, reflection and responsibility during an outdoor residential experience. Our Outdoor Education Instructors are integral to this vision, leading the provision of a variety of outdoor activities to people with a range of ages, experiences and abilities in a fun, safe environment. Working with us on a casual basis, you’ll step in when the Centre is especially busy and/or in the absence of our full-time instructors, working closely with the Centre management and other instructors to deliver an action-packed experience for our guests, leading activities including Canoeing/Kayaking, rock climbing and abseiling, caving and orienteering to name just a few. If you have any questions about the status of you application please contact About You We are seeking a positive, motivated individual with the ability to lead and inspire groups of children and young people and deliver a high quality, safe outdoor education experience in a variety of subjects. The ideal candidate will have a current 16 hour First Aid Certificate, a full, clean Driving Licence and will have completed assessment for three NGB awards from three different activity disciplines (ML/WGL/HML; SPA/RCI/CWA with abseil: LCL 1; PaddleUK Paddlesport Instructor or BCU UKCC L2 (or equivalent); BCA LMCLA. You’ll have experience of leading groups on adventurous activities and of working in a residential outdoor education centre and an understanding of the use of outdoor education in personal and group development. In addition, you will need to have excellent communication skills and an ability to relate to an motivate young people. As well as being able to lead groups and solve challenges that might arise on your own initiative, you’ll also need to be a strong team player, willing to pick up anything that needs to be done in order to ensure that the Centre continues to function safely and effectively with our customers at the heart of everything that we do. About the Team Our team at Pendarren is a dynamic group dedicated to providing an amazing experience to the children and young people for some of whom, their time with us will be their first experiences of life outside of an inner-city environment.
