Portsmouth Water are delighted to be looking for a dynamic Water Resources Planner to join the team in shaping our Water Resources Management and Drought Plans. As a key player in our team, you’ll support data analysis, project management, and modelling to ensure sustainable water resources. The successful applicant will work with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to major projects like the Havant Thicket Reservoir, all while driving innovative solutions and making a real impact on water management.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
1. To comply with all policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety.
2. To demonstrate exemplar behaviours, to ensure the wellbeing, safety and health of all staff, stakeholders and third parties affected by the WRMP and Drought Plan programmes.
3. To proactively protect the safety and wellbeing of all members of the Water Resources Team.
4. Delivering excellent customer service when dealing with internal and external customers.
5. Encourage proactive and effective communications to help develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers.
6. Promoting and demonstrating continuous improvements to procedures/processes/working practices to enhance the level of customer service delivery across all functions of business activity.
7. Ensure that all Water Resources work is undertaken in an appropriate manner with due consideration and planning.
8. Encourage a collaborative working culture across all interactions.
9. Demonstrate and promote PW Company Values and behaviours.
10. To provide leadership, support and regular communication to the other members of the Catchment and Environment Team.
11. Encourage compliance with agreed Department KPI’s, SLA’s and Company WRMP and WRSE programmes.
12. Ensure that all department processes, procedures and standards are met in accordance with specification and to a very high and consistent level.
What do you need?
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
1. A degree (or equivalent) in an environmental science/water resources discipline or a related discipline.
2. Obtained or actively working towards professional membership of an environmental or project management body (e.g. CIWEM, Institute of Water).
3. Excellent numerical literacy and data interpreting skills.
4. Sound scientific and technical skills in water resources.
5. Ability to proactively work in a small team and independently with minimal support.
6. Sound administration and organisation skills.
7. Excellent computer literacy skills.
8. Basic geological and hydrogeological understanding.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
10. Experience in surface water and/or groundwater and/or water resources modelling (e.g. Pywr), or an understanding of how to interpret results to provide insights and inputs to other workstreams.
11. Project management experience.
12. Full UK driving license.
