As a Purification Shift Technician, you'll play a crucial role in the large-scale purification of antigens used in FMD and BTV vaccine production. You'll be working in a graded laboratory within the restricted area of our production plant in Pirbright, adhering to the highest standards of UK and Boehringer Ingelheim’s HSE, GMP, and bio-security regulations. This role requires flexibility, including weekend shift cover, and collaboration across departments.
This is a fully site based role in Pirbright.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manufacture purified antigens for FMD and BTV vaccines efficiently and cost-effectively, meeting all HSE, GMP, and biosecurity standards.
2. Operate and maintain process plant equipment according to standard operating procedures.
3. Conduct laboratory tests throughout the production process, recording findings accurately.
4. Document deviations and investigations, liaising with QA as needed.
5. Perform aseptic manipulations of products.
6. Monitor and record data from process plant instrumentation and laboratory equipment, taking remedial action when necessary.
7. Collaborate with shift technicians to ensure smooth transitions between shifts.
8. Provide shift cover, including weekends, when other technicians are unavailable.
9. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory, participating in the cleaning rota.
10. Engage fully with CI and PSQDC processes.

1. Experience in pharmaceutical production.
2. Strong IT skills.
3. Ability to work autonomously, safely, and methodically.
4. Experience with industrial-scale manufacturing under a quality system.
