The Occupational Therapy Service at St. Richard's Hospital Chichester is looking to support an internal candidate to undertake a 2 year Apprentice Occupational Therapy Master's Degree course.
This post is an Apprenticeship / Developmental role and is only open to internal candidates who have already expressed an interest in undertaking this level of study with our Apprentice Team and who meet the University’s entry criteria.
The trainee will work towards progression into the post of B5 Rotational Occupational Therapists through successful completion of the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship Programme which includes the attainment of Master’s Degree Standard Occupational Therapist Level 7.
The Occupational therapy Apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning. You will be required to continuously develop your skills and knowledge as you progress through the degree programme, so that when competent you can manage and be responsible for a clinical caseload with supervision from a qualified OT.
Main duties of the job
* To work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in providing a programme of Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments for a selected caseload of patients, being able to make alterations when required by assessment of patient progress.
* Provide individual or group interventions as identified by the Occupational Therapist.
* Develop by the end of the apprenticeship period the ability to work independently and autonomously with robust clinical reasoning.

* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to develop effective working and therapeutic relationships
* Ability to identify and analyse problems and offer solutions
* Ability to collate, organise and respond effectively to information
* Able to undertake a range of OT assessments to a competent level.
* An understanding of disability and social issues and the impact on people’s functional ability
Qualifications
* Minimum of a level 3 qualification – A levels, Access to HE Diploma, BTEC / apprenticeship level 3
* Evidence of recent study experience (within last 5 years)
* Completed OT B3 level competencies or level 3 apprentice competencies.
* 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A-C or 4-9 including Maths and English.
