Millfield School is seeking an experienced and proactive Estates Maintenance Surveyor to oversee the upkeep and development of our Senior and Prep School campuses. This vital role involves assessing and planning maintenance needs, creating detailed cost estimates, and managing short, medium, and long-term maintenance strategies to ensure our estate remains a safe, functional, and inspiring environment.
Working closely with the Estates Manager, you will lead the technical design, tendering, and contract administration for maintenance projects, ensuring works are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will liaise with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders while ensuring compliance with statutory approvals, health and safety regulations, and CDM 2015 guidelines. Your role will also include supporting major capital projects and assisting with documentation such as O&M manuals and planning applications.
We are looking for an HNC/D qualified professional with proven experience in building construction, maintenance, and cost planning. Ideally, you will have expertise in procurement, construction contracts, and current legislation, alongside strong technical skills, including AutoCAD proficiency. Excellent communication and project management abilities, coupled with a detail-oriented and problem-solving approach, are essential to thrive in this role.
This is a permanent year-round position working 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday for which you will receive a salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, plus an array of staff benefits including a generous holiday entitlement, freshly prepared lunches for just £10 per month, access to the school facilities and discounts/cashback on high street shops and restaurants through the school’s Employee Assistance Programme.
