The post holder will participate in all aspects of the Nuclear Medicine Service as part of a multidisciplinary team of nurses, clinical scientists, technologists, and clerical staff.
Duties include patient assessment, involvement in cardiac stressing, liaising with wards to ensure optimum patient care while the patient is in the department.
The post holder will also be expected to be involved in the Nuclear Medicine paediatric service. In addition, you would be expected to represent nuclear medicine at required meetings such as safeguarding and acting as the Fab Champion.
Main duties of the job
* Direct patient care, providing a quality supportive service to patients and significant others, offering advice, information, support, and counselling.
* Assess, counsel, and monitor patients undergoing routine Nuclear Medicine procedures, ensuring patient safety.
* With continuous in-service training, perform several different methods of administration of a variety of radioactive and non-radioactive pharmaceuticals, whilst working to strict protocols under safe practice.
* Provide routine advice to patients undergoing administration of radioactive materials as well as to staff or relatives providing care to such patients, to ensure the risks of exposure to ionising radiation are understood by the concerned parties.
* Participate in non-physician led stressing for myocardial perfusion imaging.
* Ensure paediatric safety.
* Assist higher-grade nursing staff with the introduction of new procedures and techniques into routine service.
* Respond to complaints and assist in their resolution within the Trust's complaints handling framework.
