About Us Our work is focused on improving vehicle safety and environmental protection by providing robust testing and certification to national and internationally recognised standards. We are a part of the Department of Transport as the designated UK Vehicle Type Approval Authority. Job description This role offers versatility and opportunities to work with colleagues across the Vehicle Certification Agency, and directly with our customers. You will need to be an effective communicator who can confidently engage with people by telephone or email, daily. You will play a key role in supporting our team, issuing documents and invoices to our customers in a timely fashion. Experience using computer systems, including Outlook, Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat is desirable. To help develop your skills and knowledge, training and courses are available, including our regular wellbeing sessions to raise awareness about our health and promote a work life balance. Person specification To apply for our Administrative Support Officer position, you will need: Both written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for the audience. Experience of target driven front-line administration and working under pressure. Ability to listen actively and respond to feedback. Commitment to excellent customer service. Be adaptable and willing to work flexibly across the organisation. Familiarity with the use of basic Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to problem solve with a good eye for detail. Be quick to adapt to changing priorities and procedures and maintain accuracy. Be confident to seek advice and support when necessary from colleagues and managers. Be able to learn quickly on the job in a fast-paced work environment. Additional Information This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert).
