Main duties of the job
1. Operate within a sound understanding and application of current legal frameworks including the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.
2. Provide professional leadership in cases and support unqualified workers in their practice.
3. Stay abreast of developments in service delivery, best practice, and case law to ensure high standards of service.
4. Assess the needs of adults, determine outcomes in partnership with the individual, and promote independence and well-being.
5. Monitor and review support plans to ensure they meet identified needs.
6. Maintain accurate case records and complete required reports within agreed timescales.
7. Participate in regular supervisory meetings to ensure effective communication and informed decision-making.

Qualifications
Essential
8. Social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, Degree in Social Work or equivalent).
9. Social Work England Registration.
10. Able to evidence robust Continuing Professional Development in line with requirements of Social Work England.
11. Demonstrable skills and experience of an Experienced Social Worker, in accordance with the Professional Capabilities Framework. A commitment to maintaining Experienced Social Worker level of practice is a pre-requisite of the Senior Social Worker role.
12. Sound legal literacy- Can demonstrate an ability to apply and articulate relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated Code of Practice, and Human Rights Act 2008.
13. All post holders will work according to the Councils Values & Expectations.
14. Spoken English Duty Requirement - The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.
15. Able to travel to meet service delivery requirements.
16. Available to undertake work outside of normal working hours.
17. Ability to use IT systems and software effectively to accurately record and communicate.
