WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Certification Engineer to join JLR's Quality & Product Compliance department. This function is crucial to ensuring that our vehicles comply with worldwide regulatory standards and markets entry criteria.
As a Certification Engineer, you will support the delivery of Certification and Homologation, from concept to end of volume production, ensuring all legislative requirements compliance on JLR programmes. You will collaborate closely with design, engineering and testing teams to certify new vehicle models and technologies for global markets, helping us bring safe and sustainable mobility solutions to our customers and ensure that vehicles comply with regulatory requirements and are certified in time for sale while liaising with external parties such as National Sales Companies and regulatory bodies.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure program teams are up to date on new rules, directives, and policies, and develop strategies to meet them.
2. Report program performance against agreed-upon timelines and activities to support PDCS procedures and new model launch gateway agendas.
3. Contribute to assessments of future and existing product modification procedures to guarantee component conformity throughout design verification.
4. Respond to Product Direction Letters (PDLs) with regulatory requirements and necessary steps to guarantee compliance within program timelines.
5. Assist the Homologation Market Support team in examining legislation from across the world, either directly or through National Sales Company/Importer networks, to acquire clarification on specific issues affecting vehicle programs.
6. Obtain and maintain component and system approval certification for program/MY deliverables, including revisions to reflect engineering and regulatory changes.
7. Maintain correct records for component and system approval Type Approval certifications.
8. Assist with component homologation enquiries from NSCs, importers, and internal departments.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
1. Previous experience in component/vehicle legislative function involving analysis of vehicle safety and interpretation of legislation within the automotive or similar industries.
2. Knowledge of certification and type approval systems/component and procedures.
3. Understanding of engineering release and control procedures.
4. Ability to read and understand engineering test reports and other technical information used to present for certification to external national and international government agencies.
5. Excellent communication and IT skills specifically Microsoft Office packages.
