We are looking for a dedicated individual to join as Climate Change Team Leader, focusing on developing, supporting, monitoring, and reviewing activities related to specific projects within the Environment Plan and associated strategies, including the Kent Environment Strategy and the Kent and Medway Energy and Low Emissions Strategy.
As a Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in achieving the county-wide 2050 Net Zero target and Kent County Council's 2030 Net Zero target. You will actively engage with various stakeholder channels, focusing on collaboration across the Local Authority network within Kent and beyond, and with relevant public and private sector partners. Your expertise will provide extensive advice and support to managers across KCC to ensure effective project implementation in line with budgets and timescales.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop, support, and manage a range of climate, adaptation, and low-carbon projects across the Council and within a partnership context at all stages of the project cycle.
2. Lead and develop the Climate Change team, overseeing their work plans and priorities to ensure proactive and collaborative service delivery.
3. Monitor and evaluate the progress of projects, identifying any scope for improvement or any problems or constraints as determined by legislation, national and local policy, and initiatives.
4. Act as strategic lead for the Kent and Medway Energy and Low Emissions strategy, ensuring appropriate monitoring, review, and updates are carried out to enable genuine progress towards Net Zero 2050.
5. Provide support to the Programme Manager/Project Sponsor in planning and monitoring project budgets to ensure tight financial control and the effective use of resources.
This full-time role offers hybrid working options, with a mixture of office-based work at Invicta House, Maidstone, and remote work from home.
