Job Description: Head of Product Kahootz are a leading provider of secure collaboration software to a range of clients including in the central government, healthcare and defence domains. The software is cloud based and designed to help teams improve their efficiency through closer collaboration, enabled by a comprehensive toolset include file sharing, discussions forums and dynamic databases. The software sits at the core of a number of nationally significant, but classified, defence programmes and was instrumental in supporting the rapid reaction to the COVID pandemic in the NHS. POSITION: We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and visionary leader with commercial awareness to lead the definition of the long-term Kahootz Product Roadmap. Reporting to the CEO, we are looking for someone who will collaborate with the broader team to ensure the product development is driven in line with commercial requirements, security standards, and the evolving needs of our defence, healthcare, and government clients. This leader will balance user experience with cutting-edge technology, ensuring Kahootz remains a leading secure collaboration platform in these critical sectors. In addition to driving the product roadmap, the successful candidate will take the lead on ensuring Kahootz’s organizational resilience and security posture. This role will be responsible for further developing and defining strategies that maintain the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of our service. By staying ahead of emerging threats and compliance requirements, the candidate will ensure that Kahootz not only meets but exceeds the security expectations of our clients in strategic sectors. Their leadership will be key in driving continuous improvement in risk management and operational resilience across the organisation. KEY OBJECTIVES: Lead the development and communication of Kahootz’s product strategy, ensuring alignment with market needs, commercial priorities, and client feedback to secure a competitive advantage in the defence, government, and healthcare sectors. Conduct thorough market research to compile a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with the company’s vision. Take ownership of delivering the functional elements outlined in the roadmap, ensuring timely execution. Promote innovative thinking and creative solutions throughout the development process. Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to define the detailed software requirements Ensure timely delivery of software solutions and comprehensive supporting documentation to the business. Foster cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with internal teams—including development, sales, and customer success—to ensure a holistic approach to product innovation that addresses technical, commercial, and user-driven needs. Enhance security and compliance standards: Ensure that Kahootz continues to meet and exceed industry-leading security and compliance requirements, particularly in highly regulated sectors including defence and healthcare. Drive organisational resilience: Develop and implement strategies that bolster the platform’s operational resilience, supporting uninterrupted service delivery while proactively addressing potential risks and emerging threats. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Product Strategy and Development Roadmap Creation: Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with Kahootz’s vision and responds to market demands, client feedback, and industry trends. Innovation Leadership: Champion innovative solutions and greenfield development initiatives, encouraging a culture of creativity within the product team. Requirement Definition: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document detailed software requirements that meet client and market needs. Cross-Functional Collaboration Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with internal teams (development, sales, customer success) and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on product objectives. Feedback Integration: Establish and manage feedback loops across departments to continuously improve product offerings based on user insights and market feedback. Training and Support: Facilitate training sessions and workshops to equip internal teams with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively communicate and support product features. Security, Compliance, and Resilience Compliance Oversight: Ensure all product offerings meet or exceed industry-leading security and compliance standards, particularly in defence and healthcare sectors. Risk Management: Conduct regular assessments to identify potential risks to the platform and develop strategies to mitigate them proactively. Operational Resilience: Design and implement strategies to enhance the platform’s operational resilience, ensuring continuity of service in the face of challenges or threats. JOB QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Ideally possesses a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Computer Science, Engineering) or qualified by experience. A Master’s degree (MBA or related) is a desirable. Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Product Manager (CPM), or similar certification. Participation in relevant workshops, seminars, or courses on product management, agile methodologies, and industry-specific compliance standards. Familiarity with software development processes and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent). Understanding of security frameworks and compliance regulations relevant to defence, government, and healthcare sectors. Extensive experience in product management or related roles, with a proven track record of successfully managing the full product lifecycle. Experience working in defence, government, or healthcare sectors, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and driving product initiatives. Experience in ensuring product compliance with industry standards and regulations, particularly in high-security environments. Proven track record of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with product development and operational processes.
