What You Will Be Doing
As a Structural Engineering Industrial Placement candidate, you will join an exciting team who work throughout the whole submarine life cycle, from concept through to activities with the operational fleet across our current, new and future classes of submarine like Astute, Dreadnought & SSN-AUKUS.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Structural design of Submarines
* Designing equipment to withstand shock and dynamic movements of the submarine whilst in operation
* Lifting arrangement design and oversight of submarine movements within our Specialist Structural Engineering team
* Structural and Stress Analysis
* Outfit design – including sheet metal, deck coverings, furniture and fittings, to ensure a habitable submarine environment.
Minimum Requirements
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant STEM subject, Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering. To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
