Science Technician – Secondary School – Tameside

Salary: £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about science and eager to support students in their learning? We are looking for a Science Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Tameside. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in science who enjoys working in a laboratory environment and supporting hands-on learning.
Role Responsibilities:
* Prepare, set up, and test practical experiments for Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
* Ensure all chemicals and scientific materials are stored, used, and disposed of safely, in line with health and safety regulations.
* Maintain and organise lab equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
* Support teachers and students during practical sessions, offering technical guidance.
* Keep up to date with the latest health and safety protocols and ensure risk assessments are in place.
* Order and manage stock levels of scientific equipment and consumables.
* Assist with the setup of science-related extracurricular activities and STEM projects.
Requirements:
* A background in Science (e.g., a degree, A-levels, or BTEC in a relevant subject).
* Experience in a similar role within a school or laboratory environment (desirable but not essential).
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
