Technical Manager - Climatic & Vibration
We are looking for a full-time Technical Manager to join our team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental testing standards and command a full understanding of an accredited test facility working to ISO 17025.
Responsibilities:
* Environmental Laboratory Management: Manage the Environmental laboratory, overseeing the tests and reports for accuracy and compliance.
* Technical Procedure Ownership: Take ownership of Technical Procedures and develop them in strict accordance with our quality manual. Ensure all testing consistently meets or exceeds ISO17025 quality standards, subject to UKAS audits.
* Overall Operational Responsibility: Hold responsibility for all technical aspects of the Test Environmental operations, maintaining a professional approach in all aspects of work.
* Standards Management: Assess new standards or amendments, and develop technical procedures as needed. Keep test staff informed about the latest and relevant standards.
* Quality Assurance Oversight: Review and authorise the release of test reports, certificates, and flexible schedule assessments for accuracy and compliance.
* Staff Training Oversight: Ensure that all staff receive appropriate training for their assigned tests and maintain accurate training records.
* Security Responsibility: Ensure the security of the test site and main building.
* Supplier Relations: Collaborate with suppliers to address technical and administrative matters related to laboratory acquisitions.
* Resource Selection: Select appropriate test equipment and resources to meet required testing standards.
The Person:
* Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for this position are a degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification in a related field. Alternatively, a considerable level of experience within the field of Vibration testing and management is acceptable.
* Testing Expertise: Over 7 years of experience in testing and measuring within an Environmental test environment.
* Team Management: Proven staff management skills, with a minimum of one year's experience supervising technical personnel and fostering the development of a technical team.
* Task Scheduling: Ability to schedule tasks effectively, ensuring timely availability of staff, equipment, and facilities for on-time project completion.
* Professional Certification: Preferred Chartered Engineer qualification.
* Effective Communication: Excellent telephone etiquette with clear and precise English language communication skills. At least one year of experience in supplier communication at both contractual and technical levels.
* IT Proficiency: Strong IT skills, including proficiency with software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Automated test software.
