Salary: UH7 £37,999pa pro rata to £45,163pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 30 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: de Havilland Campus (Maclaurin or Enterprise Hub)
The Impact Team – part of the newly created Directorate of Research & Enterprise Services – is seeking an experienced impact professional to help us build on our excellent results in REF2021 and maximise the benefits of our two UKRI Impact Acceleration Accounts. We are a friendly and inclusive team focused on increasing and demonstrating the social and economic benefits of the University’s wide-ranging research portfolio.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Research Impact Facilitator will act as a key internal specialist and point of contact for all matters relating to the development and monitoring of the social and economic impact of research at the University of Hertfordshire. You will become an expert on the requirements of the next Research Excellence Framework, answering queries and advising case study leads and other team members on the development, structuring, drafting and editing of impact case studies in conjunction with academics, other team members and external copywriters as required. You will monitor the impact mailbox, responding to queries in a timely manner. This may include allocating workload in consultation with the Head of Research Impact and members of the team.
Skills and experience required
Prior experience of developing research impact is a must for this role, along with experience in writing and editing formal documents. You will have experience of working in a higher education research environment, funding agency, charity or similar environment. Experience of developing Research Excellence Framework (REF) impact case studies is desirable.
Knowledge of research assessment exercises such as the Research Excellence Framework, knowledge of current issues in evaluating research impact and the ability to receive, understand and interpret complex regulations and be a credible source of information on complying with external and internal requirements are essential for this role. You will have excellent inter-personal skills, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate effectively to influence opinion within a wide audience, alongside good problem-solving skills with the ability to apply technical knowledge.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent, or substantial proven professional work experience in a relevant area to the role.
