Head of Specialist Education and Training
Band 8b plus On-call
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and passionate educationalist to lead the Specialist Education and Training function within the National Risk and Resilience Department.
The successful candidate will hold our portfolio for investing in people, central to which is the education, training and development plan both internally, and across the organisation to ensure our ongoing compliance and capability with our responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act.
As a key member of the departmental Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will have a pivotal role in achieving our strategic ambitions and ensuring the implementation and monitoring of the strategy. You should be able to evidence successful delivery against performance targets, excellent people management skills and ongoing commitment to quality improvement. You will hold budget responsibility, and therefore it is essential that you can demonstrate experience of managing a budget, including the delivery of efficiency savings and best value activity.
Within the role you will also be required to engage both internally and externally with a wide range of stakeholders across the public sector. You will therefore be required to demonstrate credibility in your role, and have proven negotiation, persuasion and collaborative skills.
Experience of working within a large public sector, the NHS or emergency service at a strategic level would be advantageous. As a member of the SLT you will be required to fulfil an On-call role as part of the Strategic Advisor rota for which full training will be provided.
Due to the type of information that you will be party to within this role, and your role as a trusted partner, you will be required to achieve security clearance in addition to satisfactory PVG membership.
