Role Summary To line manage a team of Support Workers being responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of the staff within the Cancer Services Team, in order for them to fulfil their professional potential. To manage the planning and prioritisation of the team and their workloads in order to achieve a cost effective, productive, high-quality service. To ensure consistency of practice across the disease site specific cancer support workers, ensuring work undertaken is in line with the divisions strategic agenda and departmental policies and SOPs, taking account of the individual needs of each team as required. To be responsible for the recruitment, training, management and retention of the cancer support workers. Work closely and be the point of contact with the Macmillan Information & Support Services Manager, working collaboratively to develop and improve the services with particular attention to the implementation of aspects of the personalised care agenda, namely Holistic Needs Assessments and Care Planning and the design and implementation of appropriate health and wellbeing interventions using multiple methods of delivery. Support the Macmillan Information & Support Service Manager on a project to review the current single point of access process at UHSx with a view to implementing a robust patient contact service that is sustainable Support Cancer Support Workers to provide high level information & support to patients with complex supportive care needs including dealing with challenging situations and difficult conversations
