What's involved with this role: Title: Temporary DOLS Coordinator/ Admin Job Ref: Merton 5254326 Pay Rate: £16.46 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 35 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months City: MORDEN, LONDON The DOLS provisions of the Mental Capacity Act provide a legal framework for individuals who lack capacity to be deprived of their liberty for the purpose of care and treatment whilst in Care Homes and Hospitals. Working in the DOLS Team, you will gain valuable experience of working alongside Best Interest Assessors, with a unique opportunity to develop an awareness and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and the DOLS legal framework. The role will include assisting with the processing and triaging of DOLS authorisation requests, appointing Mental Health Assessors and Best Interest Assessors, assisting with the quality assurance of documents received and communicating with providers and other professionals. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards process for each service-user, including maintaining an effective overview. Be the first point of contact, receive and screen incoming referrals according to operational procedures and ensure they are processed in a timely manner. Provide advice and guidance to partner agencies and Adult Social Care colleagues with respect to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, seeking support from Best Interests Assessors / Supervisor as appropriate. Provide initial screening and quality assurance of reports submitted by Best Interests Assessors and Section 12 Approved Doctors Maintain accurate records of user information for the team, including inputting of this sensitive information onto and Mosaic. Be the first point of contact for the team, accept referrals and log on Mosaic. Facilitate the allocation process of customer cases to practitioners, including the construction and maintenance of casefiles. To complete manual and computer records on the closure of cases. Scanning documents on Mosaic. Recording and updating of data quality and data entry on Mosaic. Maintain accurate service monitoring databases to ensure robust statistical information. Also recording DoLS data on Mosaic Supervise other administrators in the team Maintain up to date operational procedures regular updating the teams data based in regards to resources/voluntary agencies in the borough Qualifications: Knowledge: Good working knowledge of using IT packages including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook. An understanding of the DOLS provisions of the MCA or willingness to learn. Experience: Experience of working in a busy, dynamic and changing office environment Skills & Abilities: Good written and communication skills with the ability to work with others to provide excellent customer services Excellent communication skills both written and oral. An ability to cope with periods of a heavy workload and work to realistic deadlines. Ability to use initiative and be confident in prioritising and planning your own workload Able to take responsibility for completion of tasks with excellent attention to detail. An ability to work effectively as part of a team or to work alone. An ability to establish rapport with key stakeholders.
