Leading Welsh University requires an experienced Procurement Category Manager to support the Professional Services team with managing the delivery of end-to-end procurement processes and practices. This exciting opportunity will see you joining one of the most prestigious Higher Education bodies at a key stage of change and development. As Procurement Category Manager you will ensure continuity of supply, deliver value for money and manage commercial and legislative risk relating to Procurement. You will be a business partner to the individual schools and departments, responsible for providing procurement advice and market analysis and will work to identify opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency and support sustainability initiatives. This role will be of strategic importance to the value creation within the various departments and the university's supply chain and ultimately the local economy. Qualifications and Experience MCIPS Qualified and degree holder Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience of procurement, category and contract management from within Higher Education, Further Education or the wider Public Sector Strong working knowledge and experience of public sector procurement procedures and regulations Demonstrable experience of drafting commercial/tender documents and leading sourcing strategies for a range of goods and services. Experience in managing Professional Services or Indirects Categories would be highly desirable. This is a 12-month fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be able to start in February 2025 and be committed to the full term.
