Directorate
We are seeking to appoint one part time (0.6FTE) Mental Health Advisor to join our multi-disciplinary, BACP accredited, Counselling and Mental Health Service. We are a friendly team of professional Counsellors and Mental Health Advisors providing individual and group-based support for students experiencing a range of mental health difficulties.
We are looking for individuals who strive to offer outstanding specialist mental health support to our diverse student community and contribute to promoting positive mental wellbeing, while also having the skills and experience to respond to complex and ever-evolving mental ill health and complex cases. This includes working collaboratively with internal and external professionals to develop and deliver a range of timely, high-quality interventions for our students throughout the academic year.
What you will be doing:
Providing specialist mental health support to our diverse student community on a spectrum of mental health and wellbeing issues.
Manage a varied caseload in a fast-paced environment.
Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and offering a
Responding to crisis cases.
Tailoring study support for individuals who may need reasonable adjustments.
Offering training to students and staff.
Qualifications/ experience:
A post graduate professional qualification and professional registration in the field of mental health: mental health nursing, clinical psychology, social work, counselling / psychotherapy.
Substantial post-qualification experience in a relevant setting. Relevant experience of working in a Higher Education setting would be advantageous but we also welcome applications from candidates who have worked in other public or private sector environments and are able to transfer their practitioner skills and knowledge to supporting our students.
Excellent relational and communication skills – able to develop effective working relationships with colleagues internal and external.
