At Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, there is an exciting opportunity to work within our newly established Tobacco Dependence Service, where you will become an integral team member improving physical health for people supported in mental health inpatient services.
The role involves working across hospital sites completing assessments and follow-up advice relating to nicotine replacement therapy and to quit smoking where expressed. A passion and desire to support patients with complex mental health diagnoses to enhance physical health is essential.

Main Duties of the Job
1. Act as a smoke-free champion and positive role model by promoting our Trust's smoke-free policy and smoke-free message through day-to-day work and maintaining a strong clinical presence.
2. Work with people to change their behaviours in order to improve their health.
3. Provide advice, guidance, and support to clinical staff, including assisting in providing training and teaching to reduce harm from tobacco, supporting the promotion and delivery of smoke-free settings.
4. Support colleagues within clinical teams to maintain a high standard of clinical record-keeping regarding individualised tobacco treatment plans and smoke-free support provided during an inpatient stay.
5. Respond effectively to referrals within stated timescales.
6. Work independently with people using inpatient services, within the framework of our policies and procedures, recognising when there is a need to defer to a more senior member of staff for advice and support.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or above in English and Maths.
* NVQ level 3 in Health care (or equivalent) or relevant experience.
* Smoking Cessation Training Level 2 or willing to undertake within 3 months of starting in post.
Experience
* Knowledge of evidence-based smoking cessation initiatives.
* Good knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice in smoking cessation, the consequences of smoking, and the benefits of quitting.
* Computer literate - experience of recording information using a number of IT systems. Able to maintain clear and comprehensive records.
* Experience of providing healthcare, healthcare advice, or health promotion advice and interventions to people using services or members of the public.
* Experience of delivering training.
* Experience of providing mentorship and guidance to other staff members.
