Description
Surrey County Council is seeking experienced Social Workers to join our Adolescent Social Work Team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work with young people at risk of exploitation, family breakdown, youth offending, and mental health challenges. Our focus is on building strong, meaningful relationships that support young people to achieve positive outcomes and long-term stability.
The team operates within a multi-agency framework, working closely with families, schools, health professionals, and youth services. Our approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and relationship-led, ensuring the best outcomes for young people in our care.
Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of adolescents at risk, providing tailored interventions to safeguard their well-being.
Conduct strengths-based assessments and develop SMART plans that address the needs of young people and their families.
Work in partnership with families, schools, health professionals, police, and other agencies to deliver targeted support.
Undertake child protection investigations and work within the legal framework to ensure young people’s safety.
Provide advocacy and support to adolescents, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
Maintain accurate case records in line with statutory guidance and best practice.
Participate in reflective supervision and contribute to a learning culture within the team.Requirements
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience in child protection, safeguarding, youth work, or adolescent-focused social work.
Skills: Strong risk assessment, decision-making, and communication skills.
Knowledge: Understanding of youth exploitation, family breakdown, trauma-informed practice, and child development.
Other Requirements: Valid driving licence and access to a car. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.Why Join Us?
