An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join Swansea Community Integrated Services-Therapies Team, within Swansea Bay University Health Board.
The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team. You will provide leadership and management to a team of occupational therapists and provide specialist assessment, goal directed intervention and rehabilitation to patients. In addition to providing a community offer, the team cover the reablement beds in West Ward, Gorseinon Hospital and Bonymaen House in addition to supporting Pathway 1 hospital discharges in-reaching across the acute hospital site.
The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including participation on a 7-day shift pattern.
The ability to travel in a timely manner across SBUHB footprint is essential for this role.
Main duties of the job
The role will be responsible for the management and development of the service as well as maintaining a clinical caseload. A commitment to collaborative working with the MDT is essential.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and clinical skills, along with experience of service development and quality improvement.
To provide leadership and supervision to the team of occupational therapists and generic assistant staff. To motivate and inspire the team through change management and service development and work in line with HR policies as and when required.
To manage a defined caseload within specialist area, using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate. To organise this efficiently and effectively regarding clinical priorities and use of time.
To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stakeholders including the multidisciplinary/multi-agency team to identify relevant goals. To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor/team leader.
To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
* Professional Registration with HCPC
* Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students
* Specific recognised postgraduate training/courses relevant to specialist area equivalent to masters level
* Leadership/management training
* Membership of professional body BAOT
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical area
* Understanding of the Occupational Therapy process and ability to apply current best practice to designated client group
* Ability to interpret the results of functional assessments and activity analysis with an emphasis on skills required with designated client group
* Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and the ability to apply to working practice.
* An understanding of the influence of health and social care policy on occupational therapy and the wider economic and socio-political issues that impact on service delivery
* Experience of multi-agency working
* Awareness of Health and Safety legislation
* Documented evidence of CPD
* Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice
* Understanding of a wide range of pathological and traumatic processes and realise the nature and cause of occupational dysfunction
* Application of knowledge gained through attendance at relevant clinical courses

* Previous experience of supervising staff
