We are looking for a Night Warehouse Manager to join our client in Ashford!
Shift: 19.00-07.00 on a 4-on-4-off rolling shift pattern with a 1-hour break.
Working within a newly established site at London Heathrow to deliver a first-class service to our customers while strictly adhering to procedures and industry regulations. An in-depth knowledge of freight forwarding is required for the successful management of the Warehouse. Based in LHR, our warehouse has recently been approved to handle fresh products as well as our General Cargo & Screening operation. The Fresh Operation will be handled on a night shift, consisting of this role and three Warehouse Operatives, and will involve working in a cold chain environment (approx. temperature +2 Deg. C). Uniforms and appropriate PPE will be provided. Our warehouse is a CAA regulated site; therefore, a strict background check and full 5-year checkable history is a must for this role.
Main duties: To include, but not limited to:
1. Manage a team of Warehouse Operatives including all HR formalities.
2. Work to guidelines/internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure these are being met by the Warehouse team.
3. Uphold company’s Health & Safety standards and policies at all times.
4. Accurate inbound & outbound handling of shipments in a timely manner.
5. Complete customs formalities as required (discharge of T1 etc).
6. Data entry into the Rhenus systems in an accurate and timely manner.
7. Screening via metal detection, X-ray, FREDDS, and ETD machine etc.
8. Build ULD units, check & label cargo in line with supporting documentation.
9. Prepare cargo for dispatch, including handling temperature-sensitive shipments.
10. Oversee warehouse and administration duties as required.
11. Own the shift, including liaising with transport companies, airlines, and agencies when required.
12. Handle temperature-controlled shipments, as well as general cargo and other specialized services (e.g., Dangerous Goods etc).
Skills and Experience:
1. Ability to run a successful night shift operation.
2. Experience of managing and motivating a team to high standards.
3. Customs knowledge and experience is desirable.
4. Ability to carry out screening duties where needed.
5. Experience of working in a cold chain environment is beneficial.
