JOB TITLE: Security Officer
LOCATION: Guildhall Shopping Centre
PAY RATE: £13.25 Per Hour
SHIFT PATTERN: 4 on 4 off (10 hour shifts), 42 hours per week
Role Overview And Purpose
This important role is the public face of the Security Team. A can-do and professional attitude is essential in this highly influential role. You also need to ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are always provided to the client and visitors of the site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Readily interact with all visitors/tenants, delivering first class customer focused service
2. Carry out regular patrols of the centre as detailed in the site assignment Instructions
3. Complete any routine testing of health and safety equipment, or site systems
4. CCTV monitoring
5. Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to visitors of the shopping centre, proactively helping wherever an opportunity arises
6. Ensuring all incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedures
7. Record/log all non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives
8. Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise with colleagues, retailers, management, and the police
9. Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies, ensuring the Centre team is always kept fully informed
10. Control the access/egress of contractors and visitors on site
11. Intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals, logging, and reporting incidents in line with site/company policies
12. Maintain vigilance and highlight/manage unauthorised access of banned individuals
13. Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to
14. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business or as requested by your line manager
15. Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
16. Ensure a timely response to all security issues and events
17. Complete all training requirements as requested by line manager
18. Be flexible to cover additional shifts for absence/annual leave/training
19. Liaise closely with the housekeeping team, delivering one service and highlighting opportunities in working as one team
Required Skills And Experience
1. CP, Door supervisor, or Security SIA badge (required)
2. CCTV badge (desirable)
3. Driving licence (desirable)
4. First aid trained (desirable)
5. IOSH/Fire marshal, or other relevant H & S qualifications (desirable)
6. Basic computer knowledge, Word, Excel
7. Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful always whilst carrying out duties to the highest standard
8. One team approach
9. Take ownership of all situations to ensure tasks are completed or escalated when necessary
10. To always stay motivated, aim high and achieve
11. To respect all staff and visitors within the shopping centre
