Manchester Foundation NHS Trust are delighted to offer a new vacancy for a Band 5 Learning Disability and Autism Nurse or Practitioner.

We are keen to attract a candidate who has experience of working with adults or children who have a learning disability and/or autism.
You will be a qualified nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychotherapist or social worker with a drive and passion for promoting the rights of patients with additional needs.
Main duties of the job
Contribute to facilitating delivery of high-quality Learning Disability and Autism services to an agreed and auditable quality standard that complies with all national and local legislation and guidance.
Contribute to facilitating the delivery of the Learning Disability and Autism training programmes to meet the educational/ training requirements across the Trust. Ensure staff are supported to and work effectively within Equality Act, Mental Capacity Act/Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards legislation.
Support with implementation of the Oliver McGowan Learning Disability & Autism Training trust wide.
Work closely with other team members to ensure delivery of the All Age Learning Disability & Autism strategy.

Person Specification
Registered professionals
* Current relevant professional registration
Qualifications
* A qualified Learning Disability Nurse or other registered nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or social worker with significant experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism
* Educated to degree level
* Evidence of working with adults or children with learning disabilities and/or autism
Knowledge and experince
* Experience of working within an MDT setting
* Working knowledge of legislation and policy relating to people with learning disabilities and autism (e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, DoLs, Equality Act).
* Evidence of team working.
* Knowledge of tools like behavioural recording sheets; direct observations; pain; health screening tools etc. to help analyse situation and make formulations and recommendations based on this.
* Post-registration experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
* Additional training in Autism or Positive Behaviour Support.
Skills
* Excellent verbal and written skills.
* Confident and professional manner
* Strong analytical skills
* Ability to work under pressure, to prioritise work flexibly and to tight deadlines.
* Experience in developing and delivering training
