Join the Central Services Finance Team as a Finance Assistant at Bettys & Taylors on a 13-month fixed-term basis covering an internal secondment, where we craft Yorkshire Tea and Taylors of Harrogate coffee. We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to help manage our monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgeting. You’ll work alongside our Management Accountant and provide support across key financial processes, ensuring the smooth and accurate reporting of overhead cost centres for our Group and Central divisions. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours over 5 days, with 2-3 core days in the office. About you We’re looking for someone with a passion for finance and a strong desire to work at Bettys & Taylors. The ideal candidate will be actively studying towards an accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, AAT) or part-qualified, with solid experience in a finance team. You will possess the following attributes: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy Ability to take initiative, problem-solve independently, and ask insightful questions A quick learner, able to adapt to new systems and processes An analytical mindset with excellent Excel skills Strong communication skills for effective team collaboration Previous finance team experience is desirable Key Responsibilities Month-End Reconciliation & Reporting: Ensure accurate month-end reporting for various central overhead cost centres, including reconciliation and analysis of expenses. Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform thorough balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records. Quarterly Reforecasting: Assist in the quarterly reforecasting process for central overhead cost centres, ensuring updated financial projections. Annual Budget Support: Contribute to the preparation and review of the annual budget, collaborating with team members to ensure accuracy. Credit Card Journal Entries: Maintain timely records and post journals related to company credit card transactions, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy. Expense Processing: Oversee the correct processing of Group & Central expenses, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accuracy. Invoice Authorisation: Manage and maintain the invoice authorisation matrix to facilitate timely approvals and processing. Year-End Audit Support: Assist the Group and Central Finance teams with the preparation and support of the year-end audit process. Ad Hoc Analysis & Project Support: Provide additional financial analysis and support for special projects as needed.
