**Actual salary**£31,524-£33,417 (full-time, year-round role)**Senior Premises Assistant****Grade 5 (Outer London): £31,524-£33,417 + Performance and Loyalty Bonus + Pension Scheme (LGPS) + Harris Wellbeing Cash Plan + Additional Harris Benefits****Summary**We are looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to assist the Premises Manager in ensuring the effective management, organisation and supervision of all matters relating to, and all staff involved with, the Academy premises. The role is likely to suit a professional with experience in premises and facilities management and assistance either in a professional building or educational establishment. As Senior Premises Officer, you will join a dedicated team of professionals supporting the management of our academy premises Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form is a unique sixth form, established to provide an outstanding vocational education and preparation for skills-based work or transition to university for students in Croydon and the surrounding boroughs. Part of the Harris Federation, which runs highly successful primary and secondary academies across London, Harris Professional Skills Sixth Form caters for students who may not suit the traditional pathways at post-16. With small class sizes and strong pastoral support, we offer excellent, focused vocational options as well as the opportunity to take or resit GCSEs that students need to progress further – whether they choose to progress into a career or higher education. The academy also has a small Alternative Provision supporting students with a high level of need. Our academy offers a choice of Construction, Health and Social Care, Business, Media, Science and Art along with resit opportunities in Maths and English Language GCSE for students choosing a vocational pathway, providing a curriculum that will challenge and inspire them to develop the skills and confidence they need to compete successfully for jobs in their chosen vocation. Your responsibilities will include:* Ensuring that all hard surface areas and paths are kept free of litter, leaves, weeds and other debris at all times and that all litter bins are emptied daily* Carrying out daily ground maintenance such as grass cutting, pruning, weeding, planting* Marking and maintenance sports facilities* Carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds, including operation of the alarm system* Routine and non-routine opening and closing of the buildings and grounds* Availability for telephone call-out at evenings and weekends as a keyholder* Undertaking cleaning duties as required.* Ensuring the maintenance and operation of heating, lighting, ventilation, water supplies, drainage and sanitation on site* Carrying out improvements and maintenance to the building fabric as required* Report any defects found to the premises or equipment to the Estates Manager* Availability to undertake lettings of the premises, at evenings or weekends* Ensuring that prior to lettings the premises are clean and in a satisfactory condition and that the required furniture and equipment is in place* Attending during the whole period of the letting, carrying out frequent security patrols and securing the premises upon vacation by the hirer.* Reinstating the area hired once the hirer has left the premises.* Ensuring that adequate health and safety measures are taken at all times* Reporting any health and safety breaches or defects to relevant staff* In conjunction with relevant staff, checking call points, equipment and fire alarm on a regular basis, and maintaining suitable records* Ensuring that all fire exits and accessible escape routes are maintained free of obstruction at all times* Taking delivery of mail, stores materials and other goods and transporting them to the appropriate location* Carry out the moving and setting up of furniture within the Academy as required.* Dealing with appropriate enquiries from staff, students, parents, officers and other employees of the Academy, contractors, members of the public and lettings clients**Qualifications & Experience**We would like to hear from you if you have:* Qualifications to A Level or equivalent* Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations* Sound training in one or more of the following; plumbing, general and ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems.* Basic knowledge of the operation of heating, ventilating systems and common causes of malfunctions;* Knowledge of maintenance and security systems and procedures Knowledge of supervisory skills;* Understanding of appropriate cleaning methods and standards.* Experience of working in a school or educational establishment with children and young people* Considerable DIY experienceFor a full job description and person specification, please download the Job Pack.If you have any questions about this opportunity, please send us an email, or call to arrange a conversation.
