University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic qualified Children's Nurses to join the Derby Children's Continuing Care team as a Band 5.
Using your knowledge and experience, you will be required to teach, support, and supervise our team of Family Support Workers providing bespoke care packages to individual children.
Staff are required to care for children and young people weighing up to 70kg with 2 staff for manual handling purposes when required. Staff are also required to wear Personal Protective Equipment including FFP3 masks when required.
You will also be required to work a variety of clinical shifts including days, long days, nights, weekends, bank holidays, and twilight shifts. The shifts are provided across Derby and Derbyshire; therefore, the ability to drive is essential.
Specialist training will be provided, and there is the potential for progression within the team for the right individual.
Main duties of the job
The team provides specialist care to children and young people with complex health needs in the community setting. These complex health needs range from epilepsy, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care to full home ventilation and includes some children with life-limiting conditions.
We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses as full training and support will be given.
These shifts will be worked in the children's homes, nursery/schools, or respite centres either as a lone worker or working alongside members of the team when 2 staff are required for moving and handling purposes. You will be required to act as a Key Worker for individual children with the support of a band 6/7 Specialist Nurse, providing high quality, integrated assessment and ongoing support.
You will be expected to work in partnership and liaise with the multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team. We welcome applications for those with the relevant qualifications and/or experience.
Due to the nature of the role, staff are required to sign up to the DBS update service to ensure the safety of the patients and families we care for in the community.
For further information or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Laura Kellas, Joanna Dudley, Helen Burgess, or Laura Bigland on 01332 787225/785404.
Closing date of applications: 10th March 2025
