Fleet Manager Job Description
1. Coach Dispatch team to company and department goals
2. Talk to drivers daily/check in’s
3. Walk the drivers through any issues they may have:
1. Breakdowns
2. Accidents
3. Customer issues
4. Develop efficient driver schedules to maximize profits:
1. Ensure all drivers make our quarterly goal
2. Ensure Dead Head is at the company goal standards
3. Book second loads daily for drivers
5. Input accurate load information to Billing:
1. Ensure on Friday that all loads are ready to be sent to billing
2. Ensure payroll gets all necessary reports:
1. Driver assistance pay
2. Driver breakdown pay
6. Manage drivers to adhere to strict schedules:
1. Manage driver PC time
2. Ensure on-time deliveries
3. Review Hours of service periodically throughout the week to ensure drivers have the time to deliver loads
7. Find ways to cut costs and maximize profits:
1. Work with Operations Manager to analyze profits and work on cutting costs
8. Develop strategies for greater fuel efficiency
9. Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection
10. Comply with U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations:
1. Ensure drivers are adhering to DOT driver log policies
11. Monitor driver behavior and ensure a high level of customer service:
1. Provide drivers with positive reinforcement
2. Encourage drivers to do the job well
3. Conduct progressive discipline for drivers breaking company policies
12. Analyze data to increase business operational efficiency
13. Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles for safety purposes
14. Complete driver reimbursements
15. Complete reports on duties completed as a Fleet Manager
16. Maintain communication with customers daily
17. Utilize PGT's network
