Early Years Practitioner - fixed term until 26/06/2026
Craigroyston Primary Early Years
Salary: £28,046 - £32,010 (pro-rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Early Years Practitioner to join our ELC Team.

We welcome applications from individuals who are keen to support our work to ensure learners at Craigroyston Primary ELC develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to demonstrate the four capacities of successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

The successful candidate will work flexibly in order to meet the needs of individual children and of the service as a whole. They will be a team player who makes valuable contributions to the planning, facilitating and evaluating of high-quality learning experiences. The successful candidate will be a competent user of ICT and have excellent communication skills.

Craigroyson Primary school benefits from a diverse staff team. We have a pupil support team consisting of PSA, EYA, EYP, EYO and PSO practitioners, a vibrant ELC and 13 classes taught by a mixture of full time and part time teachers. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Example: sessional staff on Grade 3 with less than 5 years' service working 27.5 hours per week for 39 weeks, would be paid:

At lowest scale point: £24,909 x 45.6/52.18 weeks x 27.5/36 hours = £16,628 per year (£1,385 per month before tax/NI)
\n
At highest scale point: £25,116 x 45.6/52.18 weeks x 27.5/36 hours = £16,766 per year (£1,397 per month before tax/NI)
\n
Sessional staff in schools, do not work during the 12 weeks of school holidays and 39 week contracts include in service days, however total salary is paid in 12 equal monthly payments, over the year.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
