At Hereford Contract Canning, we pride ourselves in being a forward thinking, inclusive business with ambitious growth plans. Due to recent investment and acquisition of new customers, we are looking to expand our Engineering team and are recruiting for skilled and driven multi-skilled engineers.
About the Role:
Based at our Hereford site, you will work a continental shift pattern (Panama shift) as part of the Engineering team. Your role will involve ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance and optimisation of our equipment and systems, with safety and quality as top priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Respond promptly to plant and machinery failures, providing effective problem-solving and repairs
2. Prioritise safety in all activities, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards
3. Train and support operators and engineers on new and existing equipment
4. Participate in plant improvement initiatives and help establish best practices
5. Collaborate with teams, engineers and contractors to enhance plant performance within budget and operational constraints
6. Undertake routine maintenance activities in line with a structured programme
7. Plan, review and enhance preventative maintenance routines
8. Proactively monitor system and plant conditions, carrying out repairs or raising work orders as necessary
About You:
1. Completed apprenticeship or time-served experience, preferably within an FMCG environment
2. Formal electrical or mechanical qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, ONC, HNC)
3. Secondary school qualifications in Maths, English and Science
4. Strong communication and teamwork skills
5. Strong fault finding and diagnosis skills
6. Proficient in PLC interrogation and fault finding is desirable
