Main duties of the job
The Registered Manager will support the Children's Services Project Team (a partnership between Navigo CIC, Nurtrio) in the initial homes set up and service development of new local children's homes for Children Looked After with moderate needs.
The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the home is compliant against The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 including national minimum standards and Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF): Children's homes and Looked after Children's frameworks.
To effectively lead and inspire the home's staff team, embedding a positive, transparent culture, child-focused ethos, achieving positive outcomes for young people and ensuring the delivery of exceptional care. Leading processes, safeguarding and managing the day-to-day life within the home, contributing to developing and building well-established principles and practice standards for the home, proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of these standards.
Job responsibilities
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
* Leading on and being accountable for the delivery of a high-quality residential provision for children and young people, having robust oversight of the care provision to ensure safe and effective practice of the staff team.
* Promoting a co-production approach, ensuring that the voices of children, young people and families are heard and valued in respect of service development, planning and decision making.
* Leading and supporting the team to work in partnership with other agencies to deliver effective coordinated packages of support as per the child's care plan.
* Providing a safe and stimulating environment for children living at the home.
* Ensuring that there are regular stimulating activities for children and young people to participate in that reflect their interests and wishes and also offer new opportunities and experiences.
* Ensuring effective recruitment, induction and retention processes in line with Nurtrio policy and procedures.
Person Specification
Knowledge
* Working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation in respect of Residential Children's Homes including The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and ability to input and maintain accurate data records.
* Knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
Additional Requirements
* Ability to form positive and effective multi-agency relationships and work within these to afford creative approaches to effect positive change for children and young people.
* Enhanced written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to use initiative and be proactive.
* Innovative and flexible approach to challenges.
Experience
* At least 3 years experience of managing within a residential children's home.
* Significant experience of working with children, young people and their families.
Qualifications
* OFSTED Registered Residential Care Manager.
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Young People's Services (or equivalent).

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
