The Work, Health and Skills Team in Economic Affairs have an exciting new vacancy in the team for a Work Placement Coordinator (Creative Industries) to support the work, health, skills, and cultural development agenda. Supporting the economy and our residents during this unprecedented time is more crucial than ever and we are committed to providing opportunities for individuals of all ages to explore and excel in creative industries. This post will be responsible for managing and growing our work experience programs, ensuring placements are available for a wide range of participants, from children, young people, to adults. You will work closely with arts, cultural and heritage organisations, freelancers, and educational establishments to match placements with individuals. You will also play a key role in expanding the availability of creative placements and strengthening relationships within the local cultural sector. The role will coordinate and facilitate a wide range of creative work experience placements, tailored to different age groups and durations, for young people and adults. Supporting arts organisations and freelancers with the logistics and statutory requirements needed to host placements, including safeguarding and other compliance matters. Within the role you will build a comprehensive map of available placements and identify organisations interested in hosting work experience participants. The post will actively participate in Rochdale s Cultural Compact to help advance creative opportunities across the community. The role will also support the aim of empowering young people by unlocking their creative potential, helping them gain the skills needed for leadership roles, co-production of cultural programs, and shaping their career pathways. Part of the role will be to organise and coordinate studio open days at our partner artist studios (e.g. Richard Street Studios and Ebor Studio) in partnership with arts organisations. The post will require someone with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse groups, including arts organisations, freelancers, education establishments, and participants. With the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with a strong attention to detail. It would be desirable to have experience in coordinating work experience or placement programs, particularly in creative sectors. We are looking for someone with a passion for the creative industries, and in supporting young people and adults in developing their creative skills and careers. This post is Arts Council England funded and will therefore require the successful candidate to compile relevant monitoring and evaluation, and work closely with the Culture & Placemaking Team within Rochdale Development Agency, as well as the Local Cultural Education Partnership (LCEP) coordinator within Your Trust. The team, work at both a borough wide and at neighbourhood levels, coordinating the work and skills offer and embedding it in the wider offer of the council and our partners, engaging with businesses and making sure both young people and adults benefit from these opportunities and appropriate support is available for some of the most marginalised people in our diverse communities.
